Peru – Nazca & Huacachina
Continuing our travels in Peru

After leaving Paracus we travelled on the Peru Hop bus to see the Nazca lines.

These are ancient geo-glyphs etched into the desert plains of southern Peru.

Nobody knows what they really mean, but they were formed by the Nazca culture around 500 BCE and 500 CE.

Apparently there are 300 different figures found around Peru. They have remained for such a long time due to the arid desert conditions with little wind or rain.

Back on the Peru Hop bus with our crazy hosts. This time we have Nilo, who takes us to Huacachina.

We are staying one night at the Wild Rover Hostel in the party town of Huacachina.
We figured we could survive one night 😆

Twenty minutes after arriving we have bought our bandanas and are off to go dune buggy riding and sand boarding.

The dune buggies are suped-up mean machines!

The dunes are huge, and this is defo an adrenaline inducing ride, down the steepest dunes at break neck speed. So close along the edge of the ridges you think the vehicle will somersault you all down. Getting a good amount of air on each dune you need to be securely strapped in!

Paul went first, he has no fear.

We had about 6 dunes to slide down – it was great fun!!

A last chase around on the buggies before Nilo led us in a traditional Peruvian toast to the sunset with Pisco.

Then back to our hotel for a barbecue and evening drinks 🍸 🍸🍻

I think this town is a little notorious… we were quite good, we only stayed up till 1 am ish.

But it is also a beautiful oasis.

Serene and calm in the morning.
Now on to the next stop with Peru Hop.
