Walk from Baleal to Peniche
Along Portugal’s Silver Coastline

The sun is shining – its a fab day for another lovely beach walk! and a bit of exploring…

Baleal has several surf schools in the area, and a massive long beach on which to practise

Soft sand, breeze in your hair, warm sun and cool paddling water – what more could one ask for on a day like this?

See the town of Peniche in the distance

A surf school, shop and restaurant on the beach – Paul had a burger, I had Carrot and ginger soup – very nice!

Paul has shaved his head and is growing a beard for the first time – it gives him a totally different look – Sexy 🙂

Peniche Town fortification
We walked into Peniche – there is a wall running around the coastal part of the town and this old fortification – a protection from entry via sea.

This lovely tiled area covering a building’s wall gives a clue to its usage.

We popped inside to see someone actually using one of these communal washing sinks to clean a plant pot – though their original use is for washing clothes, hence the 45 degree concrete scrubbing side of the sinks.

We walked back along the beach – past all the surfers – towards the van and got distracted by Baleal Island

You reach it by driving on a raised single vehicle track which looks as if it is regularly cut off by the tide.

Amazing looking rock formations showing tectonic plate movement

Such an extensive bit of sandy coastline

Someone kindly left a rusty old metal seat for when you just need a brief rest

Portugal is just so good with their public information boards

wild flowers cover even the most rugged terrain

A beautiful little cove hidden away

It really is just so pretty!
